Making Paper Art
Though writing poems and stories is something I started later in life, I've been making paper art since childhood. It's wonderful to be lost in a state of flow, creating a composition with paper or words. Both are puzzles with open-ended solutions, combining elements of perspective, imagery, sensory perception, and form. My work has more meaning for me when it is inspired in part by cultural and historical context.

Create depicts creative flow. It was inspired by color theory, Tibetan mandala, Islamic gardens, and the four rivers that are said to have flowed from the Garden of Eden. The textured card stock was cut with scissors, shaped with tools, and glued in place.
